The use of real-time software-controlled reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) units is proposed to increase the reliability vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications. optimum placement problem RIS formulated by considering their sizes and operating modes. solution given, where it shown that optimal depends on locations transmitter receiver. RIS-supported highway deployment can combat high path loss experienced higher frequency bands, including millimeter-wave terahertz are expected be used in next-generation wireless networks. By using RIS-powered architecture existing base station plans remain operational while providing reliable energy-efficient connectivity for autonomous vehicles.
